A Family Business

Families are very important to The Ski Shop. We have seen families grow up right in front of our very eyes. Our customers have seen us grow as well! Wolfgang and Julie Uhl started operating The Ski Shop Inc. in the early 80's. Kevin and Carolyn Kinney joined Wolf and Julie as The Ski Shop's foundation. After Wolf and Julie's son Rick graduated from Western State University, he re-joined the "family" in the early 90's and took over ownership of The Ski Shop in 2002. That same year Rick convinced his brother Scott to move back to Colorado Springs (we are not sure where he was the dozen or so years prior, but for some reason he now speaks with a Swiss accent...and can yodel).  Rick's wife, Debbie, joined the mayhem in 2005 and the family just keeps on growin'!   Of course we are very lucky to still have two of the very best managers and experts in the Ski business: Kevin and Carolyn Kinney. Kevin and Carolyn remind us frequently that they are not in a business at The Ski Shop...they are in a family.

The relationships that we have built with our customers are the primary reason why The Ski Shop has stayed in business for over 58 years. Our customers count on us to know the products we sell inside and out. The Ski Shop staff personally tests every piece of equipment we sell so that we can pass that expertise on to you. Nothing makes us happier than having a customer tell us how much better their skiing or snowboarding experience was because of our recommendations and advice. The staff at The Ski Shop doesn't consider skiing and snowboarding as just a sport; it's our passion! Perhaps, that is the reason why we relate to our customers so well.
