You can trust the expertise and fitting knowledge from our highly trained and educated boot fitters at The Ski Shop. All our boots have free fitting and adjustments for 2 years after purchase.
Your foot is made up of 28 bones, 16 joints, 107 ligaments and 27 muscles – that’s a quarter of your skeleton. Feet are the foundation on which your body is built. Our boot fitters are familiar with foot anatomy in relation to the physics of skiing and snowboarding. The staff at The Ski Shop have over 100 years of combined experience fitting boots. In fact, our veteran boot fitters have all achieved the status of “Master Boot fitter” by Masterfit University.
Whether you’re carving groomers under the lift or earning your turns in the backcountry, one of the biggest reasons to get a custom fit in your ski boots is to allow the flow of energy from your brain to the foot to the boot to the ski to the snow. A day on the slopes can be miserable if the proper steps are not followed.
When you visit The Ski Shop for your boot fitting session, we will take extra time to get to know you and your skiing/riding preferences. Next, in order to achieve a proper fit, we will take the time to measure length, volume, width, arch flex and arch height. Almost all of our ski boots feature custom heat-moldable liners and shells to fine tune this fit. After deciding on the boots that match the right flex for your performance and fit for your foot, we then start the customization process. The Ski Shop’s boot fitters will adapt the fit of the boots to the bone structure of your feet by molding the shells and/or liners.
Finally, for better contact to your skis thru the ski boot The Ski Shop recommends only Sidas custom insoles. Why are footbeds important to skiers and snowboarders and many other athletes? Footbeds can improve both comfort and sports performance for most people for many different reasons. As your foot pronates in a turn, the arch flattens and your foot gets longer. With a lower arch, your foot can now slide forward, reducing the great fit that you had in the ski boot shop. In the arc of a turn, your feet actually experience a pressure of 3-4 times your body weight. The Ski Shop can make a custom footbed to exactly match the shape of the foot. The Sidas insole program from The Ski Shop prevents the arch from collapsing, helping you carve turns, and minimize your buckle pressure. Custom insoles will also make your feet warmer and more comfortable, while aligning your stance. This helps you to transfer energy more effectively thereby reducing overall fatigue.
The process is still not complete until you actually ski or ride in the boots! Once you “test drive” your boots, you may need additional adjustments. The Ski Shop boot fitters are here to help with any after purchase modifications for up to two years after the purchase of your boots.
**We offer fitting and molding services for boots not purchased at The Ski Shop. Boot fitting fees are listed under “service/repairs”. During peak times (holidays, weekends, etc) we may not be able to service any boots NOT purchased from The Ski Shop. We recommend that you call before you visit during these times to check on service availability.
